Obituary for Hilton B. Armstrong
Hilton Beacher Armstrong, 57, of Route 1, Scarbro, died Friday, May 9, 1986 in a Beckley hospital after a long illness.
Born March 19, 1929, at Mossy, he was the son of the late Ira and Tella Aliff Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church at East Kingston.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Jay Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Armstrong; two sons, Herman and David Armstrong, both of East Kingston; five daughters, Patty Treadway of East Kingston, Donna Sowder and Neva Blake, both of Maple Fork, Lynn Armstrong of Gary ind., and Brenda Baxter of Pax., four brothers, Eugene Armstrong of East Kingston, Guy Armstrong of Beckley, Britten Ralph Armstrong of Rupert, and Emerson Armstrong of Hilltop; two sisters, Maxine Holcomb of Rupert and Irene Harrler of Charleston, and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be today, May 12, 1986, at 1:00 P.M. at the Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank McKown officiating. Entombment will be in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity.
Friends may call today, at the church one hour prior to services. The Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill is in charge of arrangements.
Obituary for Audrey L. Armstrong
Audrey L. Armstrong, 85, of East Kingston passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born October 4, 1930 at Scarbro, she was the daughter of the late Coy Wilbur Holley, Sr. and Edith Margaret Lunsford Holley.
She was a homemaker and dedicated member and former treasurer of Fairview Methodist Church in East Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hilton Beacher, two brothers, Jimmy Holley and Coy Holley, Jr. a sister, Helen Tincher, three sons, Billy J. Armstrong, David Armstrong, and Junior Beacher Armstrong, and a daughter Sharon Gail Armstrong.
She is survived by one son, Herman Armstrong of Scarbro, and five daughters, Patricia Treadway (Lewis) of East Kingston, Donna Sue Boone (Allen)of Craigsville, Neva Settle of Beckley, Fonda Lynn Simon (Tommy) of Zanesville, OH, and Brenda Sumpter (Donnie) of Scarbro, 18 Grandchildren and 39 Great-Grand Children.
Visitation will be at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Monday April 18, 2016 from 6-8 p. m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Methodist Church in East Kingston with Robby Shorter officiating.
Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Fayette Continuous Care and Bowers Hospice House for the care of their mother and grand-mother.

Tonya Jo Abner, 30, of White Oak. went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 26, 2012. Born August, 27, 1981, she was the daughter of Frank Blake and Neva Armstrong Settle. Tonya loved spending time with her family and being outdoors. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donald Abner; six children, Donald Ray Abner III, Kelly Jo Abner, Kaley Mae Abner, Dillion Blake Abner, Devion Scott Abner, and Dalton Lee Abner; her grandmother, Audrey Armstrong, her brother Jeff Blake; her mother and father-in-law Donald Abner and Lula Willmeth; her best friend Janey Abner; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Herman Ray Armstrong (Son)
On Monday, October 23rd, 2017, our most cherished, Herman Ray Armstrong, a resident of East Kingston, passed away at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was 61 years old.
Born on November 4th, 1955, he was son of the late Hilton Beacher and Audrey Lee Holley Armstrong.
In addition to his parents, Herman Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Hilton Beacher Jr., Billy Jay, and David Wayne; a sister Sharon Gail.
Herman Ray was of Methodist faith and had been employed at Dick Powers Construction.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Jason Ray and his wife Katie: sisters, Patti Treadway (Lewis), Donna Boone (Allen), Neva Settle, Lynn Simon (Terry), and Brenda Sumpter (Donnie); grandchildren, Aniela Settle (Nathan), Emma, Ella and Seth Armstrong; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
May our beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather forever rest in peace.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 4th at 1:00 P.M. at the Mossy Living Word.

Matthew Allen Sowder (Grandson)
Matthew Allen Sowder, 46, of East Kingston, WV, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 16, 2018.
Born May 18, 1971 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Bill Sowder and Patricia Armstrong Treadway and stepfather of Lewis Treadway.
Matthew loved fishing, hunting, watching racing and four wheeling.
He was welcomed into heaven by his grandparents, Hilton Beacher Armstrong and Audrey Holley Armstrong and William L. "Wilie" and Ethel Sowder.
Along with his parents, those left to cherish his memory include aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Scott Messer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Timothy Edward Baxter (Grandson)

Timothy (Timmy) Edward Baxter a beautiful soul passed away at age 39. Timmy was born on October 3, 1981, in Beckley, West Virginia to Charles Baxter and Brenda Sumpter. Timmy was a graduate of Mt Hope High Sc
Timmy had a huge loving heart and would do anything for anyone. He loved spending time with his family, playing jokes on people, the outdoors, and had a special love for his dog (Rebel). Timmy was full of life and there was never a dull moment.
Timmy was preceded in death by his grandfather Leonard Edward Baxter, grandfather Hilton Beacher Armstrong and grandmother Audrey Lee Armstrong.
Left to carry on his memory are his father Charles Baxter, mother Brenda Sumpter (Donnie), son Hunter Baxter, brothers Jeremy Baxter and Donnie Sumpter Jr., his grandmother Loraine Baxter, very close aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of his life at a later time.

Emory Louis Treadway (Son-in-law)
Emory louis Treadway, 79 of East Kingston, WV went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 20, 2021. He was the son of the late Howard and Victoria Burgess Treadway.
Louis was a coal miner and a member of the Mossy Oak Hunting Club.
Louis's hobbies were hunting, riding his four-wheeler, digging ginseng and spending time at the Mossy Oak Club property with his family and friends.
Louis was one of a kind, he was loved by so many. Louis always looked out for the people in his community. If someone needed some help he was always there for them. It didn't matter if the job was small or big he would get it done for them. Louis made a big impact on his family and many friends.
To welcome him in Heaven is his daughter Michelle Treadway, his son Matthew Sowder, three brothers Dale, Scott, and Nick Treadway and one sister Lenore Mitchum.
Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife Patricia Treadway of forty years, daughter Denise Treadway-Stump (Jeff), son Shawn Treadway (Amanda), eight grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, two brothers Kenneth and Dole Treadway, two sisters Nadine Torrie and Mary Ann Shadrick.

Jeremy was a very energetic and happy person. He had a really big and loving heart. He loved being goofy, making people laugh, and watching his football teams; Dallas Cowboys and W.V. Jeremy had a special love for his dog Chloe.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandfather Leonard Edward Baxter, grandfather Hilton Beacher Armstrong, grandmother Audrey Lee Armstrong, and brother Timothy Edward Baxter.
